Welcome to my author & photography page. "I write, teach piano, take lots of pictures and make jewelry. A creative soul with a rescue dog."

My name is Ellen DuBois, and I've been writing since I can remember. I began writing poetry as a child and as I got older, my poems, stories, lyrics, etc., grew with me. Whenever I had to sort out my feelings, I turned to writing - and still do. Whether pen and paper, my old Smith-Corona typewriter I got for my high school graduation or my computer, writing has been a constant, faithful companion.

So has the hobby of taking pictures. I find photography to be an incredibly relaxing, spiritual experience. So, I've incorporated my picture taking into my blog. It's a part of me and what I see that I'd like to share with you.

I also welcome you to visit my author page on Amazon, Ellen M. DuBois, on Amazon.com by clicking here.

Thank you, be well and God Bless! Ellen

The Well at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm

by Ellen DuBois on 02/27/19

When my fiance and I visited Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm in the Poconos, Pennsylvania, a couple of years ago, I was completely taken by its beauty. Rolling hills of green, the smell of hay, farm animals simply resting in the shade and the laid back "vibe" were all beautiful. The people who worked the farm, 19th century style including their clothing, farm equipment, tools and more, were incredibly interesting to watch and had a calming effect on me. I felt more rooted to the earth. For a small-town girl, I was a city slicker in comparison.

I took picture after picture. Old barn doors steeped in history; meadows, herb gardens, and the well you see pictured above. The natural lighting was perfect. It was a beautiful, sunny day. I relished the light, shadows and soft hues as my fiance and I walked a slow pace, taking it all in.

There was also a craft fair taking place at the farm which put me in an even more "heavenly state". I felt the textures of hand made sweaters and bags, captured brilliant colors of textiles, glass and so much more.

It was an amazing trip and one I would do again.
