The Swan was Worth It

by Ellen DuBois on 03/09/19

We've had some snow in Massachusetts. The last storm was a wet, heavy snow and it froze into a thick layer of ice.

However, with the warmer temps over the past couple of days, some melting has begun. It's a bit easier to walk through and shovel the spots I missed.

Still, it's a harrowing walk to the pond out back. But, when I saw the swan on the pond, I couldn't help myself. I grabbed my camera, hoping he'd stay put until I was close enough to get some pictures.

The sun's golden flecks of light reflected off the water. It was magical. A few more steps, (the snow was going down my boots), and I'd clear the branches blocking my view of the beautiful swan.

I got my pictures, and didn't even feel the icy snow melting in my boots. I was so captivated.

The swan was worth it.
