A Girl's Night Out- (country)
Frim Fram Sauce- (fun, jazz)
The Nearness Of You- (ballad, piano & vocal)
Hi and thanks for stopping by the 'music' portion of my site.

I was raised in a musical family. My father is a fabulous piano player and his band of many years often put bread on the table combined with the two other jobs he worked. The life of a musician isn't necessarily a 'luxurious' one, but if you've got the passion, it's a life you can't easily walk away from. So, my father worked a 'regular' job during the day, and usually gigged three to four nights a week. In addition,
he was Music Director at the church I was a choir member in as a child. He then went on to different churches, sharing his skill and talent while contining his career as an excellent, inspiring Music Director.

My mother is also a fantastic, (I mean FANTASTIC), piano player and composer. Her gift of expression through her original piano pieces is evident.  While my mother was busy raising three girls during our younger years, she later went on to teach piano, has been the Music Director at the United Methodist Church for nearly twenty-years, and continues to inspire many with both her music, her piano playing and amazing teaching abilities.

My parents are gifted musicians and performers, as was my Nana who loved to play the piano, (she played during silent films before "talkies" came onto the scene), and my Grammy who took her talents in a different direction- that of dance. She was a Broadway dancer with the Ziegfeld Follies- and that's just one of her many achievements in her career as a dancer. I built her a website years ago called She Was A Broadway Baby. You can visit by going here: http://broadwaybaby.homestead.com

I suppose the music genes run in our family. I gigged with a General Business Band (GB) for about three years, performing at weddings and clubs. I had some of the most fun I've ever had-  and got paid for it!

I missed performing after leaving the band in 2000. Several years went by and I taught myself how to record and mix music at home. What you hear on this site is my voice mixed with background karaoke tracks. I'm using my good, old Sure Microphone, Nero Software, my laptop, and wires run everywhere!  Right now I'm sharing just a tiny portion of what I've got. I've sung and recorded so many songs: from country ones like The Judds, to Enya, Elton John, Billy Joel, Etta James, Carly Simon and more. Because the MP3's take so long to load, I've only placed three songs on this page. I'll add more if people want to hear it. The thing is, although my music is not close to sounding professionally recorded, the sound quality was the best I could do given my limited equipment and self-training. I look forward to singing in a 'real studio' with sound engineers who actually know what they're doing. I'd rather just be left to do what I do best- and that's singing while accompanying myself on piano. I'm not the best at that, either. However, I'm far from the worst and my authentic 'self' feels true when I sing- like I've finally made a match...Music and Me.

I also keep the music going in my life by teaching, and it continues to be an amazing experience. My students are beginner to intermediate and they are AWESOME. I am blessed to have the chance to teach, and each student brings their own unique gifts to the keyboard.

Again, thanks for stopping by. If you feel like signing my guest book, feel free. Any requests? I'll see what I can do.

Peace, Love and Light to you,
Ellen
